Best Gym Gloves 2026: For Lifting, WODs and HYROX

Gym gloves do one job well: they stop the bar, the kettlebell or the sled rope from tearing up your hands. What they cost you is feel. A thick glove puts padding between your fingers and the bar, and on a heavy deadlift that can make your grip feel weaker. So the right glove depends on what you do most: light circuits, heavy lifting, or a HYROX race where the sled pull and farmers carry chew through your palms.
This guide picks six gloves sold on Amazon that outside testers have put through workouts, and names the popular CrossFit glove you cannot buy there. None of these are hands-on tests. Our sourcing rules are at How We Test.

First, the honest part: one favourite is not on Amazon
Garage Gym Reviews picks the Rogue Mechanix Gloves V2 as its best glove for CrossFit: a synthetic leather palm, a mesh back and no padding, so you keep your feel for the bar. Rogue sells them on its own site. Amazon carries Mechanix Wear gloves, but not the Rogue edition, and we will not link a different glove under the same name. If you want the Rogue version, buy it from Rogue. We make nothing from that.
Gloves in HYROX: what the rulebook allows
The official HYROX Singles Rulebook for the 2026/27 season lists “Gloves [not grips]” among the items you may wear. That one line settles most questions:
- Gloves are allowed at every station.
- Grips are not. Gymnastics-style grips, the kind with finger holes and a leather or carbon pad, are out.
- Chalk is event chalk only, and only at the sled pull and the farmers carry. Bringing your own chalk is a 2-minute penalty.
- Wrist wraps are not mentioned in that section of the rulebook. If you plan to race in a glove with a built-in wrap, check with your event before race day.
Remember that whatever you start with, you carry to the finish. Nobody can hand you gloves halfway through.
Why this page has no scores
No lab publishes friction or wear measurements for gym gloves the way RunRepeat does for shoes. Testers report on fit, grip, comfort and how fast the stitching fails. Our rule is that a product needs evidence on at least four measured axes before it gets a score, and gloves do not have that. So we rank them on construction and on what testers found.
What separates a good glove from a bad one
| Feature | What it does | Choose it if… |
|---|---|---|
| Fingerless | Protects the palm, keeps your fingertips free | You want feel for the bar and less heat |
| Full finger | Covers every finger, including the joints | Ropes, sleds and rough handles tear your fingers |
| Palm padding | Cushions pressure points, reduces calluses | Comfort matters more than feel; not for max lifts |
| Built-in wrist wrap | Adds support when pressing | You bench or press heavy; check the rules before racing |
| Leather or rubber palm | Lasts longer and grips better than thin fabric | You train often or pull ropes |
Sizing is the most common complaint in the tests below: some brands run small, others large. Measure around your palm below the knuckles and check the brand’s own chart before ordering.
The gloves
1. ihuan Ventilated Workout Gloves — best overall
- Microfiber with anti-slip silicone points on the palm
- About 0.23 in (6 mm) of palm cushioning
- Hook-and-loop wrist strap
- Garage Gym Reviews’ best overall pick
This is the glove most people should start with. It is cheap, it grips well and the padding takes the edge off kettlebells and pull-up bars. Testers found it true to size.
Where it falls short: some owners found the wrist strap uncomfortable, and there are reports of the stitching coming apart over time.
2. Mava Sports Cross Training Gloves — best for WODs and HYROX training
- Rubber palm with a lined grip pattern
- Open thumb and finger loops for a secure fit
- Double hook-and-loop wrist strap
- Reviewed by BarBend on rope climbs, pull-ups and dumbbell rows
BarBend’s tester found the rubber palm gave reliable traction across very different movements, and the double strap let him get a tight fit. That versatility is what a HYROX or CrossFit session asks for.
Where it falls short: the open thumb leaves part of the hand exposed, heavy sweat can reduce the rubber’s grip, and it costs more than most gloves here.
3. Bionic Full Finger Gloves — best full-finger
- Genuine leather palm, breathable back
- Relief pads to spread pressure
- Neoprene wrist closure
- Garage Gym Reviews’ best full-finger pick
If rough handles or ropes are what hurt your hands, full fingers protect the joints that fingerless gloves leave bare. Leather also holds up better than thin fabric.
Where it falls short: the fingers run long for some hands, and not every size is always available on Amazon.
4. Harbinger Pro Wristwrap Gloves — best with wrist support
- Sturdy built-in wrist wrap with hook-and-loop closure
- Perforated two-piece palm
- Mixed polyester, cotton, leather, nylon and spandex build
- Garage Gym Reviews’ best glove with wrist support
For pressing and bench work, the wrist wrap is the point. Testers noted good compression and durability.
Where it falls short: sizes run small, and the glove is hard to pull off when your hands are sweaty.
5. Trideer Padded Workout Gloves — best grip
- Microfiber mesh with an anti-slip palm
- Thick palm padding
- Long wrist wraps (about 18 in)
- Garage Gym Reviews’ best grip pick
Testers liked the palm protection and the grip, and found it comfortable and breathable.
Where it falls short: the back of the glove is thin, and sizes run large.
6. SIMARI Workout Gloves — best budget
- Elastic fabric with a durable microfiber palm
- Thicker palm with anti-slip material
- Light and breathable
- Garage Gym Reviews’ best budget pick
A light, cheap glove for classes and machine work. If you mainly want to stop blisters, it does the job.
Where it falls short: testers called it a little flimsy; it will not last as long as the leather options.
Gloves, grips or bare hands?
- Gloves protect the whole palm and suit circuits, kettlebells, sleds and farmers carries.
- Grips are the choice for high-rep pull-ups and toes-to-bar in CrossFit, but they are not allowed in HYROX.
- Bare hands with chalk give the best feel on heavy barbell lifts. Many lifters take gloves off for their heaviest sets.
What we would buy
For most people: the ihuan Ventilated Workout Gloves. Cheap, comfortable and well reviewed by testers.
For HYROX training and WODs: the Mava Sports Cross Training Gloves, and check your event’s rules if you race in a glove with a wrist strap.
Frequently asked questions
Are gloves necessary at the gym?
No. Many lifters train bare-handed for better feel on heavy lifts. Gloves earn their place on high-rep pulling, sled ropes, farmers carries and rough or cold handles. In HYROX, training gloves are allowed and gymnastics grips are not.
Do gym gloves prevent calluses?
They reduce them. Padding cuts the friction and pinching that build calluses, but it does not remove them entirely, and a glove that bunches up can create new pressure points. A good fit matters more than thick padding.
